Stop in and grab lunch at this charming family owned and operated sandwich and soup place. We love paying Joe, Chris and fam a visit. I love their 1/2 soup + sandwich combo for lunch. Just an easy going little place to enjoy a quick bite. Super kid friendly.

Hiking & Exploring
Head down to the lake to walk the small loop near the lake! Easy to park your car, easy hike with some moderate portions uphill. There's a great spot to stop and let dogs or little kids (you too) take a dip in a quiet calm corner of the lake. No hardcore hiking shoes required, you can do it in sneakers.

Head down to the lake to walk the small loop near the lake! Easy to park your car, easy hike with some moderate portions uphill. There's a great spot to stop and let dogs or little kids (you too) take a dip in a quiet calm corner of the lake. No hardcore hiking shoes required, you can do it in sneakers.
Download the All Trails app to find how to get to Cashes Valley. This is one of my favorite spots to off road (you need an 4 wheel drive off road appropriate vehicle that can handle water crossings). It's a moderate trail, but super fun. Cashes Valley is a private road for all the residents that live in the valley, so be respectful not to have music on loudly or anything like that. Off road, enjoy nature, but don't go past the cemetery (this is an understood local code of then road out of respect for the next property owner). That's where you'll need to turn around and head back out.

475 Lake DriveSummertime? Head over to our little "beach" by the mountains. It's lovely! You'll need water shoes if you want to be comfortable on the rocky lake bed, but no worries --they sell them in the shop where you can also rent a paddle board, kayaks, etc.
Drink & relax
Nothing like sipping your wine overlooking the peaceful property at Bear Claw. Super dog and kid friendly. Adults can enjoy their wine while kids run and play in the safety of the vineyard, over the little bridge and down by the stream. I seriously don't have a care in the world when I'm here relaxing with my family. There's no real food here, but you can grab a cheese, meat and cracker plate to have with your wine.

Bear Claw Vineyards & Winery, Inc.

Go visit Vernon and Tamalynn (owners) at this antique shop in downtown McCayesville. They're open 7 days a week, even when the main shops are closed. So if you're bored and need a little outing, go grab a cup of coffee at Yellow Bird and then walk into this shop. Be sure to tell them their favorite couple Dee & Sam from Miami sent you in to say hello! A lot of the things you'll see in our home have come from their shop. Just be sure not to talk politics with Vernon... lol. Trust us on this one. :)
