Portola Valley is a small, quiet town within biking distance of a larger town, Palo Alto. There is a bus stop less than a 5 minute walk away from the house that provides access to the larger San Mateo County transit system. Our guesthouse is a short walk to two Portola Valley shopping areas as well as the public elementary and middle schools. The house is a 10 minute drive away from Stanford University and Stanford Hospital, as well as Children's Health Council, which provides mental health support for children, including those who may be traumatized. The town is friendly and there are walking trails throughout so there is plenty of opportunity to get fresh air right outside the door. There is a public library, several churches, a hardware store, and other amenities a short distance away.
