Kayaking

For kayaking, they offer rentals in Coeymans at the Coeymans Riverfront Park, and afterwards you can grab a bite to eat at Yanni's Too-famous for their calamari and patio riverfront dining! (Remind people that the river has tides, and that high tide will be best for getting into the smaller creeks off the river.)

Henry Hudson Park in Selkirk has kayak rentals, and there is a lovely short paddle up the Vlomankill creek with a waterfall at the end-accessible only near high tide. Its best to leave an hour before high tide and ride it in, and then ride it out. That paddle should only take an hour round trip, though. You will see eagles, osprey, herons, ducks, geese, depending on the time of year...you name it, they're in there!
