Perched on your picnic blanket along the shores of the Currimundi Lake Twilight Markets, feels more like a family BBQ then being out in public. The only exception is that we can guarantee the food is better than your uncles burnt sausages. Oh, and the Sunshine Coast craft beer barons at Your Mates Brewing are there to perfectly compliment your surroundings. Dig in!

Sightseeing

This spot has it all for families – shady trees which hang over the beach (it doesn’t matter if you forget the beach umbrella!), calm and mostly shallow water for paddling in, and a vast expanse of sand for digging in.As you gaze out over the lake, you’ll see families rowing boats, canoeing, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding and swimming. If you don’t have your own equipment, you can hire kayaks and stand up paddle boards from a surf shop situated right on the beach front. The lake is also a popular fishing spot, and you may be lucky enough to snag a whiting or bream. Bring a yabby pump to catch fresh bait. The kids will enjoy catching sand, mud and hermit crabs and small fish in nets and buckets. When the tide is going out, a sandy island forms in the middle of the lake. It’s a great spot for a game of beach cricket or to throw a Frisbee around with friends. Please be aware that dogs and motorised water craft are not permitted on the lake. There are pram, scooter and bike friendly walking paths that run alongside Currimundi Lake. If you head south, the picturesque coastal pathway will take you all the way to Pelican Waters. If you head north, you can walk or cycle through to Noosa.
It has a unique view of the ocean connecting with the lake during high tide.During low tide,It looks magnificent as sometimes the sand looks like a big sand dune separating the two bodies of water. The lake is very close to the studio and there are various places where you can bring your kayak to the river and paddle towards the ocean or get on a bike and ride through the park and by the beach

Take a bushwalk through this park and see a small remnant of wallum heath that was once a common plant community along the Sunshine Coast. Wildflowers, coastal birds, and views of the ocean beach and lake feature here. Vividly coloured heath wildflowers reach their peak flowering time in late winter and spring months.

Surf Beach

Walk over the dunes and you are at the Currimundi Surf beach, which is patrolled by lifesavers on weekends and school holidays. This is a popular spot for sky divers to land, so don’t set up your beach gear anywhere near a large “X marks the spot”! Swim or boogie board between the flags, throw out a line, collect shells along the shore or go for a long beach walk. Depending on the weather, you can get decent waves at this spot, so bring your surfboard or kite surf equipment.
