There are two parking areas along the Ashokan Reservoir. One is known on Google maps as Ashokan Reservoir East Parking Lot, and the other is known as Ashokan Promenade Parking Area. This is a paved path along the Reservoir. Don't miss this.
Another option, for a wooded walk, is to cross the street from our house by foot, go left about 50 feet, and then enter the trailhead there. This leads you down to the Reservoir - about a 20 minute, shaded walk. You need to have a (free) NYCDEP Watershed Recreation permit to be there - sign up on their website.
