Food Scene

Tucked away in a narrow alley, Osteria dal Capo is by far my favourite spot in Padua. Here you can treat yourself with a proper delicious italian meal in a cozy and quaint atmosphere. Their menu reminds me of those great sunday meals at my grandmother's home and features seasonal options you can hardly find elsewhere. Only a few tables, it fills up quickly. Better book in advance.

Always searching for the best pizza, I've incredibly found it close to home. This small place, despite being always crowded and a bit noisy, will surprise you for the bold and creative selection of ingredients, wisely mixed up to create some unique combinations you won't forget easily. Imho their crispy pizza is a masterpiece, the best ever. Besides, you will appreciate a top notch list of beers and a very qualified service.

It seems people can't get (and lick) enough. Padua brims with ice cream parlors and new ones pop up every brand new summer. Being an ice cream addicted myself, this summer I set out to solve the tricky dilemma: which is the best? Nothing daunted by the obsession to keep fit, in a sultry hot week I tested them all, using dark chocolate as my personal yardstick. And the winner is.. Gnam Gnam, definitely. While you're at it, check out their snow cones too. I really can't get enough.

Arts & Culture

Padua's landmark, Giotto's frescoes are a breathtaking 700 years old beauty. 39 bright colored scenes taken from the Bible and depicted with an unprecedented visual language made of poses, gestures and facial expressions. Once unveiled, the frescoes totally shocked the Middle Ages worshippers. Been there several times, and every time I spot a new face I hadn't noticed before that invariably resembles someone I know. Bring binoculars when visiting, you will appreciate details like the first french kiss ever painted, or the picture of the Halley comet that in 1302 surfed over the Earth. Beware of the strict tour timings though, there's no margin for error.
