Foodie Run

It's no where near as good as the south of France, but heh, we're trying....
Update: This place is being sold so is usually just open for a tapas type snacks and drinks whilst hosting an up and coming unearthed star. Otherwise check for opening times, call Tony or Ant (who is far from fat) for deets.

in Merimbula: The dulcie burger is a must. The beer selection is not the best (in my opinion) but they do have great cocktails.

Great coffee and lovely staff with a smile. But also very tasty breakfasts and brunchy munchies. While you're waiting check out the bike shop next door, pat one of the 50 dogs, or check out the fox den next door.

If you like oysters then this is the place. Say hi to Gary and make sure to keep your tray to return to him (or I will for you). The $12 gem trays are awesome. Grab a bottle of champers and a lemon, head out to the rocks at chamberlain lookout and enjoy the sunset.

Bookings essential but great for a schmancy tapas style meal.

Drinks & Nightlife

Sunday afternoon live music sessions and always something on, if not then the views are breathtaking and you can wave to the whales passing by. Beers are all non-mainstream so remember to bring your wallet ($10 a pop) and not your car. The humpback brewery is up and running from here so try and sampler tray. The kids play area is great for all ages.

Barefoot bowls and mainstream beers and did I mention shuttle bus service... The menu is ever changing but they always have the usual pub fare. I think the shnitty is better here than the tathra hotel but don't tell anyone.

Sightseeing

Iconic and historic wharf with great structure and views. Grab a fishing rod and see what you can catch. Avoid the wharf in high seas unless you're a marlin. There is a great walk along the cliffs to the Tathra hotel where the views are unsurpassed.

Head out onto the rocks and eat your fish and chips here - remember to take your rubbish with you though. Beautiful views and watch the whales go by.

Parks & Nature

An amazing walk (or run) that starts at Kianinny and ends at Bournda - amazing with secluded beaches along the way. There's a bunch of steps and is graded medium-hard. Kids under 10 may struggle but heh, they will sleep well at the end of the day. The gap at Bournda is an amazing little inlet where you can walk out between the cliffs at low tide (swim at high) and enjoy the knee high salt water lagoon. Perfect for families and picnics. If you don't want to walk, you can drive (it's national park so, pay for parking). Head down Sapphire coast drive and turn left towards the sailing school at Wallagoot, keep going until you get to the coastal car park. Don't tell Leonardo that you've found his 'beach'.... If you can't muster the strength to do the 9km - then at least do the trek to 'boulder bay' and wonder why they called it that...

head to the lions park at mogareeka, take your shoes off and head to the mouth of the river. A super cool experience if it is closed or open.

A very sheltered beach so great when the wind is howling. A bit of a walk to get here but very well worth it. Head over the bridge at Mogareeka and turn right down Bay Drive, park your car at the end and walk the path. you wont be disappointed.

Make sure you wear long pants and take a compass - these trails can get very confusing as they cross with each other. Better still, download a map or grab one from the bike shop in Tathra.
