If you're seeking an upscale dinner, this is the place to go, hands down. You'll find touristy spots right along the river (high cost, low quality), but this is where the local foodies go for a truly special night out.
They also offer the best cocktails in Wilmington, hands down. Go in, tell them what flavors you like (I'm a bourbon girl, liquor forward, with an affinity for citrus, smoke, ginger, and herbs), and they will whip up a drink made special for you. It's an experience.

Don't stand in line at Kilwin's -- head up to the Northside for Boombalatti's (locally owned) ice cream. Interesting flavors, and if you're vegan, their vegan ice cream is soooo goooooooooood.

Capricho is a hidden gem, a little hole-in-the wall featuring well-priced, authentic Mexican street food -- their platanos, street corn, and tacos are amazing. (Beer Barrio is located in the same area, but in my humble opinion, it's overpriced and not as good.)

The Greenfield area is up-and-coming, and Satellite has a super chill vibe with the second best beer selection in town (second to Cape Fear Wine & Beer). Bluegrass nights on Sundays are a must.
