Favorite Restaurant

Immerse yourself in nature in this outdoor restaurant just 5 min walking from the apartment. When I visit with my family, we enjoy the typical Mexican dishes like their famous chilaquiles and refreshing fresh squished juices. Everything is prepared to the minute and using local ingredients. A unique and delicious experience. During the day if you are lucky, you can see the monkeys on the trees.

Food Scene

For the best curries in town, you can't miss Yum Yum. They serve Thai and Indian inspired dishes. Lovely place with high quality food and cocktails located very close to the apartment but off the touristic 5th avenue. The chef has a few other places in Playa worth exploring.

You can take the ferry from Playa to visit the beautiful Cozumel Island. Once you arrive at the island, adjacent to the port there are small boats you can hire for an island tour. They can take to preserved beaches with beautiful flora and fauna to explore. Cozumel is world-renowned for scuba diving due to its second largest reef system in the world with extensive coral reefs and sea life.

It is an amazing experience to visit the spectacular Muyil ruins and floating in the Muyil lagoon in the Sian Kaan Biosphere. There are two kinds of tours available. The shorter, which I did, will take you through the canal down to the second lagoon, from which you will reach a second river, where you will start the best part of the tour, floating in the water. You will be given a mandatory life jacket and then you can jump into the river and let the soothing water take you through the mangroves. It’s very easy because the water is shallow and your feet would reach the bottom most of the time. It was a new experience for me, and I was stunned by the thought that it was all-natural, the only man-made thing was the canal opened by the Mayan civilization ages ago. So while I was floating on my own, in the silence of nature, I let my thoughts flow just like the water, and I imagined the Mayan canoes passing through. So much mystery around that prehispanic population, so fascinating.
