Karori and Wellington

The #21 bus goes from the bottom of our street (Beauchamp, just off Tisdall - you can see bus stop signs just up or down Beauchamp, go across the road for the 'to city' direction. The #2 bus runs even more frequently and is a short walk, just outside the main shopping centre (with New World and Countdown). The main taxi services are Uber, Ola and Zoomy (Uber definitely the most common), and Wellington Combined is the main traditional taxi service. All service Karori.

Best places for kids include: Southern Cross Restaurant - very family friendly while still being a nice place you want to go! Check their website for puppet shows, face painting, etc. Chocolate Fish Cafe - You'll need a car/cab to get here, but it's excellent on a sunny day. Bicycles for little kids, trampoline, and great food/coffee Te Papa - The nature exhibit is great for young kids, or book a storyplace session. Older kids will like almost anything. Oriental Parade - rent a croc bike on a nice day and get gelato at any of the places along the waterfront

Ben Burn Park playground is great - (go to the bottom of Tisdall St, the entrance is slightly down Beauchamp and across the rd) Karori Park isn't far away, and the playground has been recently renovated. There's a cafe, and across the field in the woods there's a great fairy walk: shorturl.at/nCRT9. The Karori Rec Centre (walking distance) has a little kids' activity most days in the mornings. The library is great and has kids' storytimes and singing. The Karori pool is indoors and has a kids' pool, lane swimming and hot tub.
