Sporting
This new 80-acre sports park is bordered by Koch and Fifth streets on the south side of Pekin. This complex has been
constructed by the Pekin Park District to provide facilities for local youth organizations to conduct youth programs for
children between the ages of two and eighteen. The sports park includes; (8) lighted baseball/softball diamonds and (4)
mini diamonds, a (10) acre soccer area for accommodation of multiple age appropriate fields, (4) regulation football fields
, and (2) restroom/concession buildings. All athletic fields are fully irrigated from a well located on the site. The Sports Park
also includes; a 1.6-mile walking path, two children’s playgrounds, and parking for (500) vehicles.

Lick Creek opened in June of 1976 but recently went under some very extensive renovation work. The course closed early in 2006 so that the renovation project could take place. During this time, all of the tees and fairways were converted to bentgrass and the greens were re-planted with a newer generation of bentgrass to allow for faster, truer ball roll on greens. Lick Creek offers a driving range, pro shop and concession area for all golfers' needs. Considered one of the best, if not the best, golf course in Central Illinois, you will be impressed at our low cost to play.

The land supports about 15 species of animals, 80 species of birds and a wide spectrum of plant life. A large portion of this park is within the Land and Water Reserve by the Illinois Nature Preserves Commission.
