Wally's Beach located on south shore of the St Mary Reservoir is a popular spot for families. It is about 25 minute drive to the west north of Spring Coulee. This year (2021) you will want to bring mosquito spray, but it is a free way to cool off with nice views.

About 1 hour drive is Waterton national park, nestled in the mountains with clear cold lakes, trails and views. 2017 they experienced a large fire, but now things are starting to regrow. My personal favorites - Bison loop, Red Rock, Bears Hump trail, and my dear spouse: shopping and ice cream.

When I was a child we lived in Calgary and made 3hr+ trek back to Grandma and Grandpa's home each summer. Long summer days swimming at the pool and exploring the nature trails. We eventually moved back to Magrath and now never want to leave!

About 5 minute walk south from our back door: The Magrath Trail System is approximately 5.4 kilometers of mostly paved paths from the Fish Pond park/campground. The trail follows the edge of the canal up to the diversion headgates. At the headgates, the trail switches back alongside Pothole Creek before crossing the creek and returning back to the campground and the trailhead or you can turn west at the headgates and follow the outer loop back.

About 10 minutes north of our front door: The Town of Magrath water overflow pond also has paved walkways around the pond and along the path of the former railroad tracks (east and west along the highway). Nice views of grain elevators and entrance to Magrath.
