A popular town in Nidderdale and a great place to potter around. There is a very good local craft centre, gallery, antique shops, a reputable the oldest sweet shop in England!
There are couple of butchers shops with produce from local farms a bakery and of course some lovely cafes for tea and a piece of cake.

Fountains Abbey World Heritage Site (National Trust) is just a mile from the Nestbox. If you don't want to pay to visit the Abbey, you just walk from the Nestbox (about a mile) or drive over to one of the car parks and then take a walk through the Deer Park and Seven Bridges.

Fossil hunting at various places on the Jurassic coast, Boggle Hole, Filey, Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay - look on Google for various places that run trips, including the National Trust. The North East coast is just over 1 hours drive from the Nestbox.

Rural Location - Car essential
We are in a rural location 3 miles from Ripon with shops, supermarkets, etc., and 3 miles from the nearest country pub. No public transport. You are welcome to bring your bike and and we have a place they can be stored undercover if needed.
