Accessed via Rainbow Beach, Fraser Island (Greater Sandy National Park) is accessed via 4WD only as it is pretty much all sand! An abundance of tours are available & are well worth it. A unique island with an interesting history, flora, fauna & waterways. Eli Creek, Lake McKenzie, Lake Boomanjin, Lake Wabby, the local Dingoes, turtles, whales, dolphins & bandicoots are highlights. (It is not recommended to swim in the surf though, due to sharks.) Plenty of designated camping areas, however, Kingfisher Bay Resort is also an option.
