We are situated on the Mogollon Rim in east-central Arizona with an elevation of 6,400 feet. The city of Show Low was established in 1870 with incorporation following in 1953. What’s in the name Show Low? The legend is by all accounts, following a lengthy poker game between C.E. Cooley and Marion Clark. The two men decided there wasn’t enough space for the two of them in their settlement. They then agreed to let a game of cards decide the fate of one, loser to move out. The tale is, Clark said, “if you can show low, you win.” C.E. Cooley turned up the deuce of clubs and replied, “Show low it is.” In remembrance of this legendary card game the street that our Show Low main street named, the “Deuce of Clubs.” Show Low is home to 350 member businesses in the Show Low area. Visitors and local residences share this local business resource which is easy to use and fully informative. Show Low is the fun and adventure capital of the Arizona White Mountains.
