You can go up Monserrate either by cable car or hiking up the mountain. This is one of the most popular sightseeings in Bogota, apart from its amazing view of the city, it has a great variety of natural and local plants and animals, especially birds. It's a great place for relaxation, but food here is expensive and not so good. If you're hiking up don't do it alone, it's better if you go with a group of friends, or even better, local friends, sometimes it's not too safe.

Food scene

This is a great place to get to know traditional Colombian food. Both breakfast and lunch are worth to eat here, it's really cheap, abundant and it's the real local food of great quality.
This is a great place to enjoy Bogota's nightlife. There you'll find plenty of international food and bars. It's fancy and quite expensive, but the architecture of the streets in this area tends to be a bit European.

This is another great neighborhood in Bogota. During the daylight you can walk around its narrow and colonial-style streets, this is a natural citie's watch over. Visit the traditional Market "La Perseverancia" and try amazing local food which is affordable and tasty. Then at night la Macarena becomes a gastronomic hipster-style place, offering a variety of international offers and thematic restaurants.

Bring comfy, fresh and warm clothes.

Bogota is a city to walk by, it's not too big and everything is quite near. But the weather is very changing, be prepared for cold, rainy, sunny and hot days. You never know.

Museums are free on Sundays

If don't wanna spend too much, most of the museums are free entrance on Sundays. And be careful, they're closed on Mondays.

At night is better to use a taxi to go back.

Apps such as Beat in Bogota, are very affordable and safe. Public transport after 9pm is not a very good option especially if you're going out.
