Car rental

It's recommended to rent a car in advance. The house is in between two ravines. It's easy to come by taxi or car. The nearest bus stop is about 15 minutes away on a road sloped away from the house, only 7 buses per day, 2 on Saturday and none on Sunday.

The airport and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (San Telmo Bus Station) are connected by an excellent bus network. From Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to the house, taxi or car is the recommended option. The nearest bus stop is about 15 minutes away on a road sloped away from the house. Only 7 buses per day, 2 on Saturday and none on Sunday are available. The nearest village (Moya) is a 50-minute-away walk but just 8 minutes by car. Taxis are always available at the airport. To have a taxi pick you up at the house, call +34928620083. I can call the taxi for you if you wish.

It's recommended to pack spring-summer clothes and at least one coat for visiting the centre of the island.

Families

Gran Canaria is a popular destination for all kind of tourists: solo travellers, couples, friends and families. When travelling with kids, avoid high-level hiking routes and opt for beaches, towns or car trips to the countryside.

Social rules

43% of Gran Canaria is part of the biosphere reserve. Smoking is not permitted in most places but if you smoke, be sure to dispose of your cigarettes carefully and use a rubbish bin in order to avoid a fire. Tap water is hard but safe for human consumption. Greeting doesn't require physical contact. Like in most places, saying hello ("hola") and smiling is the best way to greet someone.
