Donner also has famous rock-climbing and ice climbing cliffs and great clear water boating that rivals, Lake Tahoe. Back country skiing and ski resorts are only minutes away from Donner. Donner and Truckee have expensive places to stay, but Reno/Sparks are much cheaper and only about 45 minutes' drive to Donner.
