Bikes
There is a backpack in the utility room that has a key to the bike lock (you can take with you for locking up at your destination), helmets, tire pump, tools, and extra lights. These are older bikes, shared with the intention of getting you from neighborhood to neighborhood, not across the metro area. Let your host know if you need help getting them down from their home or returning them. Please be sure they are locked back up when you depart. If you will be using them throughout your stay, feel free to leave them locked to each other on the patio. Enjoy your ride!

Public Transit
Trimet (https://trimet.org) is our regional public transportation system. To talk like a local, call the light rail 'Max'. Fare is $2.50 for 2.5 hours or $5 for all day and can be purchased easily using an app on your phone https://myhopcard.com/home/. There are multiple bus lines within an easy 1/2 mile walk of the AirBnB, or the nearest Max station is a relatively flat 2.5 miles.

Seasonal Attire
Portland generally has 2 seasons: rainy and non-rainy. If your stay is October - May you will want to bring a raincoat and umbrella, if your stay is between June - September a light jacket or sweater should be fine. Keep an eye on weather reports before your trip as we do get the occasional day or two of rain in June or September. Infrequently we will get snow in the winter, typically just a couple of inches. Our snow is wet and heavy, so you will want sturdy footwear with treads if snow is forecasted.

Greetings
While Portlanders may be shy about making initial eye contact, if you say hello or ask a question we are usually quick to respond and offer help if you are in need. Otherwise, this metro area is home to people from all walks of life with a variety of cultural customs. Being polite and courteous is always welcome!
