OUR SAFETY RESPONSE TO COVID-19:
Unlike typical Airbnb homestays, we are a licensed and permitted facility that has been operated by professionals since 1998, is properly insured, and complies with local, county, state, and federal regulations. However, unlike typical hotels, you won’t have to fear close contact with other people on our property. Our land is vast and remote and features many outdoor places (and yes, nature rules)! We are a safe haven where you can experience holistic healthy living. On the North Shore we are blessed with trade winds, so we have no need for air-conditioners. Our water is provided by a well with the most delicious alkaline water from the volcanic aquifer. We offer greens from our organic garden for purchase, along with our coconut kefir that will enhance your well-being.
On top of traditional cleaning procedures, we also clean each room with commercial Ozonator machines and essential oils. All linens are sanitized in a high-temperature wash and high-traffic areas are regularly sanitized. Hand sanitizer is available to guests and staff, and staff is required to regularly wash hands. We take our guest safety seriously and exercise extreme caution.
We are staffed by our family and community— During check-in we welcome our guests, show them around our beautiful property, and explain the foundations of regenerative living. We do not require face masks, however we honor guests personal preferences.
ABOUT LOTUS ROOM:
Our Lotus Room, located on the ground floor of our Opua House, is our master bedroom and a very popular choice. This spacious and private room has a stunning ocean view and floor-to-ceiling windows that provide a beautiful view to the private neck and stunning plants outside. Sliding glass doors open to a large deck, giving you free rein for sunning and meditation time. Enjoy your privacy indoors and outdoors with your personal lounge and eating area. Close to the ground shared floor kitchen, this is a wonderful place to bring coffee or a nice meal back to your room and enjoy the intimacy. The room itself includes a private bathroom equipped with a shower and a large in-room closet. It is also an excellent space to work-from-paradise, as it features a workspace with a comfortable table and chairs, high-speed fiber-optic internet access, and amenities such as a coffee machine in the kitchen.
The room has a comfortable bamboo queen size bed and a cozy corner with two upholstered chairs. The room is decorated in soft moss green and the energy-efficient curtains offer privacy and sound sleep. Sandstone art and sacred decorations are elegantly placed throughout the room. The bathroom and shower room are separate from each other, offering more flexibility. The deck has 2 lounge chairs and is large enough to do Yoga. This room stays cool throughout the day as it is not in direct sunlight.
Furthermore, you will have access to all of the Opua House, which is shared with other guests. This peaceful haven features a large kitchen, a comfortable living room with many areas to lounge in, extensive outdoor tables/spaces, and a beautiful sun parlor where you are protected yet feel like you are sitting out in nature.
ABOUT OUR PROPERTY:
All of our buildings are ecologically built and adorned with spiritual art and hand-crafted masterpieces from Pacific and Asian countries. We are surrounded by a lush jungle, ponds, flower gardens, fruit trees, and an easily accessible waterfall that flows into natural pools for swimming, from which you can gaze upon the breath-taking view of the valley.
Our land is a wonderful place to wander and explore: you can take a short walk past our organic garden, agroforestry garden, chickens, countless species of flowers and plants, and enter our temples, where you can rest, relax and meditate. For the adventurer, our ocean trail is a moderately challenging cliff trail and that takes about a half-hour to get down to the ocean. You will enjoy the wild beauty and the untouched nature of this piece of rural Maui, which is occasionally visited by dolphins and turtles. However, be sure to prepare with a good pair of hiking shoes, some snacks, a water bottle, and feel your feet—the trail can be very slippery after heavy rain. In the wintertime, whales can be spotted breaching from the viewpoints on this trail — even from your bed as well.
As we live off the grid in a sustainable and organic jungle, some friendly and harmless critters are apart of our life. Occasionally small geckos are seen in the house and we remind guests of the importance of sealing up and putting away any uneaten food. If food is left out ants will come to find their own snack. We strive to keep our spaces clean and insect free, but as previously mentioned we take good care of our land and live harmoniously in nature. We cater with 100% success to all our guests who want to experience nature and take time out from their busy life to relax.
