This beach is spectacular. The Indian Ocean slams into huge rocks just offshore giving the most incredible displays of sea spray and illustrative power of the ocean. Be careful of currents. It is also the place where in 1876 the Georgette sank and more than 50 survivors were dragged from the water by a woman on horseback: Grace Bussell aged sixteen and her companion Sam Isaacs.an indigenous farmhand saved fifty of the passengers but unfortunately when the vessel was first abandoned two women and five children were drowned. On a calm day you can still see the shadowy outline of the Georgette about 90 metres offshore.

The views are especially spectacular and the wildness of the beach invigorating.
Stunning beach for swimming, surfing and snorkelling. If the main beach is busy try little Redgate, take the path behind the carpark and head North, you'll likely have the beach to yourself! Good little protected lagoon for snorkelling on smaller swells.
