Danny Serfer can now be seen as a member of Miami’s culinary royal court. But back in 2012 he took a gamble on a small lobby space in a MiMo motel that quickly became one of the cornerstones of this neighborhood. Five years later, Blue Collar is still known for its straightforward renditions on Northeastern American comfort food, with a few very Miami touches. The latkes here are legendary and there is always a rotating list of vegetarian entrees that never feel like an afterthought. And after five years, this tiny spot is still one of the most popular places for brunch on the weekends, which says a lot in Miami.

Blue Collar is one of those places that reminds you of good ol' home cooking. It very much is going for "I just worked a long hard day and want a big comforting meal." There are all kinds of options on Blue Collar's menu, but the way I like to do it is to get one of the "dailies" (ribs, parm, or braise) and a bunch of sides from the "veg chalkboard." The place is small and always packed, so best to make a reservation or go for an early dinner or early brunch (which really is more of breakfast than brunch, right?).

Amazing food! Little more on the heavy side, not for a low calorie day but worth it. Love, love, love the brunch on Sat and Sun. Get there early...there's always a line.
