A 10 minute walk out on the peninsula will bring you to my favorite spot in the area. Gorgeous sunsets are common and the view is wonderful. If you are lucky you will see the Bald Eagles or the Osprey who's nest is nearby. It has gotten popular as a destination of late and they are restricting access to the outer deck on weekends and only allowing the cars that will fit in the small parking area so keep that in mind. Try to go on a weekday so you can go all the way out. Low tides allow for romping in the sand around the lighthouse. (there is an outhouse available)

A really short hike out to the middle of the Hudson. Bring some wine/cheese and sit under the mulberry trees when it's warm.

A short drive away from the center of town, the Saugerties Lighthouse rests on the shore of the Hudson River. The local landmark, which dates back to 1869, sits at the mouth of the Esopus Creek and is reachable via a half-mile trail at the end of Lighthouse Drive. Inside, a small museum room highlights the building’s history. Day visitors can walk to the lighthouse, stroll along the waterside, and explore the 17 acres of scenic grounds that surround the property.
