Great place to sightsee the beauty of the Fort Lauderdale waterways. Hence the name, the "Venice of America". Fort Lauderdale has over 165 miles of beautiful navigable waterways. Hope on the "Water Taxi" in Hollywood and you can make it all way to Fort Lauderdale and back by purchasing a day ticket which allows you to get on and off at designated stops. It is worth it!

In the intense August heat, it's pretty bare on the beach, but the views are unbeatable. Eat in a restaurant across the street in the air conditioning while still soaking up the view.
