Medieval building still in use. There's a strong sense of connection and continuity with the past. Beautiful building. Good cafe.

You can visit one of the finest medieval guildhalls. There is also a coffee house here which is open to all. Please see the Visit York website for more details.

This is one of my favourite places to go for a coffee and a sandwich. The menu is not extensive but it's good value for money and you are sat in a setting which was built 600 years ago. During the summer months they have tables outside.

Built in the 14th century, this Grade I listed buildings was one of the biggest of its kind in Britain. The Hall has an unusual combination of three rooms serving three different purposes: the Great Hall for business and social gatherings, the Undercroft for charity, and the Chapel for religious devotion.

The Merchant Adventurers’ Hall is one of York’s medieval marvels. It was built in 1357. This stunning timber framed building creates a fascinating museum it is also a scheduled ancient monument and Grade 1 listed building. The Hall is home to many remarkable collections. Including silver, furniture and paintings.
