We spent a couple of hours in this historic property and stayed for a lovely light lunch and coffee. Simple food made fresh. We were fascinated by the building that was been restored by volunteers with gorgeous sandstone walls with the history recorded in the visitors centre and around the building.

Glengallan Homestead is a heritage-listed homestead on the New England Highway, Glengallan, Southern Downs Region, Queensland, Australia. It was built from 1864 to 1904. It is also known as Glengallan Head Station. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 21 October 1992 and is open to the public. Rescued from ruin, Glengallan Homestead is a time warp experience. Glengallan is not just any old country mansion. Uninhabited for more than half its lifetime, it remains frozen in time. The 1867 two-storey sandstone mansion is an iconic heritage place, a rare example of a substantial 19th century country house in Queensland. Glengallan today is a tribute not only to its visionary builder and to 19th Century craftsmen, but also to the 21st Century team that brought it back to life with a delicately balanced restoration that enables the visitor to experience the best and worst of its times. Not only it boasts beautiful gardens and landscape, it takes you back to a time where the land was everything that mattered and life was hard but enjoyable. There is a great cafe "Eliza's at Glengallan" where you can enjoy traditional scones, homemade cakes, damper and pikelets, sandwiches and light meals. Opening Hours 10 am - 4 pm Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday Location 18515 New England Highway Warwick (midway between Warwick and Allora)
