Forested hiking spot with challenging uphill terrain & a waterfall in a picturesque setting.
Ramsey Cascades is the tallest waterfall in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Hidden among a hardwood forest and spilling over a series of rocky boulders for over 100-feet, it's easily one of the crown jewels of the park. This hike is near Gatlinburg and a further drive from our Airbnb. Ramsey Cascades Trail is a moderately strenuous 8-mile roundtrip hike. www.alltrails.com/trail/us/tennessee/ramsey-cascades-trail

This is an 8 mile round trip hike that gains about 2200 feet in elevation. The waterfall is beautiful, however, there is some rough terrain to navigate for the last 1/3 of a mile. Despite, that, this is a popular hike and often has lots of people hiking it! Bring lots of water.
It is not as easily accessible as the other waterfalls on the list below. That means less crowds and less families will likely be on the trail. That being said, you are signing yourself up for an 8-mile round trip hike to enjoy the Ramsey Cascade Falls. Worth it for this 100-ft. waterfall?
