This is further out of the city but a great place to go hiking and enjoy nature. Be warned.. The hikes are difficult but it is so worth it when you get up to the top!

This is closer to the city and it is another enjoyable place to go visit nature! If you are scared of heights, I would stay away from the suspension bridge. :)

Gas Town

A unique and historic part of the city. A great neighbourhood to take a stroll in the morning/afternoon and take pictures of the whistling Steam Clock and venture into the many souvenir shops, indie art galleries and decor stores. At night, you will be amazed by the light decor and enjoy the many trendy food and drink scene includes cocktail lounges and restaurants serving everything from gourmet wonders to local seafood. I highly suggest Pourhouse Restaurant, L’Abattoir, Guu with Otokomae, and Six Acres. Please make sure you make reservation weeks ahead!
One of the best places to walk around and hop into any restaurants there. You won’t be disappointed with the ambients and food that you find in that area. Each restaurants have different genre of food. My recommendation is Minami for Japanese food, Lupo for Italian or Rodney’s for the oysters! If you are willing to spend and want an experience, I highly suggest Blue Water Cafe or The Flying Pig.

How to use our transit system?

First of all, the number 25 bus comes right in front of our Airbnb on 22nd Avenue. If you decide to take the bus going West, it will take you to Nainamo SkyTrain Station. From there, you can head to downtown Vancouver. Also, you can head to Broadway Station and this is the central point where it can take you to west side of Vancouver. However, if you decide to take the bus going East, it will take you to Brentwood Mall SkyTrain Station. From there, you can go to Burnaby, Coquitlam or Surrey. At all Skytrain Station, I would highly suggest you purchase a COMPASS CARD.

BRING WATERPROOF GEAR

We are known to be called Raincouver because it rains quite a bit here. I would at least bring a pair of shoes that doesn’t get wet easily because wet feet is not enjoyable.

Eat, eat and EAT

Vancouver has one of the best food scene! It is the best of city for multicultural food. You want Chinese food plenty in Richmond. You want East Indian food plenty in Surrey. You want Korean food plenty in Coquitlam. You want to spend money on really good food go to Downtown/False Creek Vancouver. I would highly recommend you to book weeks in advance for any fine dining restaurants.

Vancouver is an expensive city but……

I love to share some tips on saving some money! Compass card is the best travelling solution on budget around the city. Our transit can get you around but there will be lots of waiting and switching. I would look for Happy Hour deals when looking for meals on budget. You can find some good deals! Also, I love going to Asian food courts i.e Crystal Mall in Burnaby or Aberdeen Mall in Richmond (remember to bring cash). Finally, go enjoy our nature around the city! Most of it is freeee and easily accessible.
