Camping + shower

Coordinates: 28.042874, -16.708445 Camping spot where many people stay, even in their campers. If you want some city life this may be a good place to chose. You are close to Los Christianos and Las Américas. On the sandy beaches, there are showers, but you need to check until what time. As they usually close them during the night. Here are many cafeterias, restaurants, bars, pubs, volleyball fields and so on which you can discover. The parking itself is in Av. Juan Carlos I. There are some lights. But you can park under the shadow of the trees so they bother less your sleep.

Directly in front of the beach of Tajao you will find an idyllic place to camp. There are even showers at the left of the beach. Just before the restaurants start if you walk from the parking. However, from what I know you can only use them during the day. The beach has stones, but it's a beautiful and calm place not too touristic. As well the restaurants in this small village do sell the best fish. So, if you like seafood this is the right place to try it.

Playa Grande in Porís de Abona is a wonderful place to camp. You will even see campers here on weekends, as the sandy beach is a great place to go surfing for beginners. The beach has directly a shower at the entrance, which usually is even hot when it's warm. If you have time I would recommend you to go for a little walk until the lighthouse and to the "Antiguo Leprosio de Abades". The latter one has abandoned buildings, which were never finished.

Camping

Coordinates: 28.031561, -16.574524 This is another quiet place to camp. You will see many campers parking here mainly during the weekend. Positive things: It is quiet, right in front of a sandy beach called "Playa Cha Silveria". From here if you continue walking to the right you will end up passing by "Cave homes" where hippie people live during the whole year. If you continue further you arrive at "Piscinas Naturales de Los Abrigos", which are natural pools that you definitely should swim in. What I like the most is that there is a connection between the "3 bigger pools", so you can easily swim through them without experience. However, swimming out to the sea (in the other direction than the pools from the biggest pool) I would only recommend to experienced freedivers). Negative things: The street is damaged. Please drive slow and carefully. There is no shower or toilets nearby, only nature. Neutral: There are some lanterns around the parking.

At El Risco there is live music on weekends. It is actually one of my favourite places to camp. The food is typical from the Canary Islands and absolutely delicious. (They only accept cash here). You can camp just continuing the street up next to the forest. Apart from the toilets in El Risco, there is a forest/nature all around you. Here are no showers. Note: the street is a little challenging, please drive in 1st gear as you don't want to get stuck with the Van. From here you may want to walk/hike to Montañas Negras and El Chinyero to find your inner peace and be astonished by the beauty of nature.

This beach is the most beautiful artificial one I have personally seen. The colours of the ocean, beach and mountains are absolutely beautiful. And it has been a few times I could even see a rainbow behind the mountains. Note: You can only park/camp right in the beginning of the beach! Otherwise it's forbidden and you will be fined. Do not pass the signs. Otherwise, it's very likely that police will pass by... At the beach there are showers and toilets which are open during the day. Las Teresitas is not only beautiful by day, but also by night. If you go for a walk along the beach, let me know what you see shining in the water as you walk by...

Most beautiful sunsets you will see on the island! Definitely worth a visit. Experienced people usually go here to surf and camp at the street (not possible at the moment since the street was closed). It's still worth to go and eat something in the small village. I personally would recommend: "Centro Cultural de Taganana" or "Guachinche Bibi y Mana" to eat delicious and cheap food.

It's the most recent volcano of Teneriffa which erupted last time in November of 1909. Going for hike here and seeing the black volcano stones/sand with the contrast of the green forest is absolutely calming and beautiful.

Absolutely beautiful black beach together with Playa El Bollullo. I believe it's one of the most beautiful ones of Teneriffa and definitely worth a visit. Just be aware that if you aren't a good swimmer don't go further in that you can stand, as people have died here.

This is one of my favourite hikes on the island. The landscape is absolutely beautiful with one cave over the other and creating a really beautiful contrast with the valley plantation. You cannot do anything wrong really when you hike along here, just enjoy nature! Note: Close here there is also a big waterfall "Cascada de Lomo Morin", but right now it's not legal to go there, since many tourists got stuck and were not able to get back safely. This is because if you want to get to the waterfall you're probably walking for 1,5hours upwards in the little river which is very slippery. However, the downwards part is more "dangerous" and should not be underestimated.

This beach is one of the best in Tenerife: wild, gold sand and astonishing sunsets. It is also known as "Hippie Beach". This is because in the past many hippies actually used to live here in peace, at the beach or in the close by caves. Now, they do not live here directly anymore, but it is still a place where people from the island like to go. Usually, there is even a stand where you can buy a drink or a cocktail for some cash. To get here you will have to do a little hike. Leave the car in La Caleta, and then hike up the mountain. Pass by the first stony beach called "Playa de Los Morteros", walk up the mountain again and then you will see "Playa Diego Hernández". Note: It is best if you wear sporty shoes and watch your feet while walking!

If you walk down here, you will actually find a big cave through which water from the ocean flows. It is named "Cueva del Tancon". If you wish a little adrenaline boost you can jump in from one side, swim under the cave and go out directly on the right. There is like a little "step" of stones, where you can get out easily. Note: the water goes up and down usually 1 meter very fast. Watch the water first to see how it behaves before you jump in. It is not a pool where you should stay for too long. I have heard that people have died here. Personally, I do not know anyone that has been hurt here, and I like to jump here into the water. However, be careful if you jump into the water and otherwise just enjoy the view.

Absolutely beautiful place to visit. You can either hike there and leave the car at the entrance or drive there directly (You need to check times, otherwise you may get a fine). There is a beautiful landscape with lots of cactuses, from which you can eat the fruits. Here you can see the lighthouse, the landscape and enjoy the beach. If you like to climb there are two places you can go to. In both places, if you fall, you fall into the water. But because of the currents in the water, you should not go alone. Difficulty: hard, Coordinates: 28.339444, -16.910828 Difficulty: beginners to advanced, Coordinates: 28.340287, -16.912242 It is not easy to get here. You will have to go to the end of the footpath. Then walk down very careful to walk to both places. There are no signs, and it is not a tourist place. I only give this recommendation to people who have climbed before and do swim very well.

Here you have more like tropical weather. Any hike around here is absolutely worth it. Get immersed in Tenerife's tropical forest and think that you are already on a completely different island!

The beach of the "yellow mountain". A nice place to go for a hike around the mountain and go swimming. The beach itself is very stony. You can even camp here, but usually, when it is warm there are a lot of mosquitos.

One of my favourite hikes on the island. You walk through a long tunnel that has "windows" along the mountain. Please wear good shoes, the best would be hiking shoes. It is not a difficult hike to do, but yes it may be dangerous if you step wrongly and fall. Then there may be nothing that could be done for you. It is your own responsibility if you go there, but it is absolutely worth it. Coordinates: 28.293748, -16.434024 You can find the hike on any of the hiking Apps like Komoot, Wikiloc. It is a one way and back hike. There are no signs since it is not touristic and the hiking path is not maintained well.

Not to be missed is the Volcano of Tenerife "Teide". I personally recommend ascending by night, which is free. I started at 2-3 am in the morning and arrived by sunrise at 6-7 am. You could even see the shadow of Teide in the ocean and sky. In total, the hike is about 7-8 hours. You can find the route on Komoot or Wikiloc. If you wish however there are also guides who will take you up and if you do not want to do the entire hike on your feet, you can take the lift during the day. You would need to do a reservation quite some time in advance.
