If you are looking for good food right on the water, this is the best option downtown. I can only vouch for their brunch and appetizers, but everything we have gotten is very good. I recommend their lump crab and avocado eggs benedict.

It's Chipotle but with a Caribbean menu and locally owned. I recomend their chicken or roasted pork with black beans and plantains. And definitely try their coconut and ginger drink.

If you consider yourself a foodie or just anyone who likes good food, you must go here. There is a reason thousands of people have rated this place the #1 activity in Saint Pete. They have fresh seafood, meat, an incredible bakery, all kinds of pasta including their own fresh pasta, prepared foods, amazing sandwiches, produce, a room dedicated to wine and cheese, and a coffee shop right in the middle where you can get beans to take home or lattes and cappuccinos, etc. to enjoy immediately. My favorites are their fresh mozzarella, fresh baked bread, their #7 sandwich (prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, and sundried tomatoes on their ciabatta roll), and their fresh pasta. They do get rather busy on lunchtime and Saturdays all day, so be prepared to wait. Closed Sundays.

Great food and cocktails and a unique menu. Korean BBQ chicken sandwich is probably the most popular dish here. This place gets very busy and reservations are recommended.

Activities

Lots to do including restaurants, bars, a small beach, kayak launch, fishing, illuminated water feature for kids (and fun-loving adults), playground, and so much more. Insider tip, the whole pier has an open container policy. At the end of the pier is Pier Tiki, an open rooftop restaurant and bar with a great view of Downtown and the bay (especially at sunset). Drinks are fun and fruity.

Great place to walk or bike around and take in the breathtaking 360 views of the Tampa Bay and downtown Saint Pete. They have a free tram car that will take you around to the 4 stops there. Definitely head to the end of the Pier to Pier Tiki rooftop bar to catch one of our beautiful sunsets. But wait, there's more! There is a playground and splash pad on the Pier for the kiddos (or those who like to act like one), a sand beach (perfect to launch a kayak), fishing spots, 5 restaurants and bars, and independent vendors selling unique items. Insider tip: coolers and open alcohol containers are allowed throughout The Pier.

This company does kayak tours out of one of my favorite spots that is only 20 minutes away. You will kayak through mangroves and go through Shell Key Preserve where no motorized boats are allowed. They go to Shell Key which is beautiful. https://islandkayaktours.com. Shell Key Preserve is a 1,828-acre preserve located in the mouth of Tampa Bay, which includes a 195-acre barrier island known as Shell Key. This is a perfect secluded getaway spot without having to travel far. The Preserve is an important sanctuary for nesting, wintering, and migrating birds, as well as a popular fishing and boating area. Access to Shell Key is limited to water vessels, including private boats or public shuttles such as the Shell Key Shuttle.

Beach Vibes

St Pete beach is a great area to soak up some sun with gentle waves. There is a good mix of party and family. A fun party area is by PCI (Post Card Inn) and Jimmy Bs and has lots of volley ball courts. Highly recommend taking an Uber/Lyft as parking lots are $20-40 depending on the season and tend to fill up on the weekends. Street parking is very limited.

Fort De Soto consists of 1,136 acres made up of five interconnected islands with very quiet beaches, family friendly beaches. There are hundreds of migratory birds there to see, along with lots of marine life, and some great areas for shelling. $5 per car to get in and you always know you will find immediate parking. There is also an off leash dog park here.

Treasure Island Beach is a fun party type of beach. Caddy's restaurant is the most popular spot on the beach and will have the most people. You can order drinks from them (whether you rent a chair and umbrella from them or are just on your beach towel) and they will bring them right to you on the beach. If you do bring a cooler with alcoholic drinks, check the posted signs on the beach for areas where you can legally drink. Dogs are also allowed in areas of this beach. Highly recommend taking an Uber/Lyft as parking lots are $20-40 depending on the season and tend to fill up on the weekends. Street parking is very limited.

I think this is the most unique venue in St Pete. It's a beautifully renovated jazz club with a very prohabition era feel. They have live music every night from jazz to RNB to Spanish guitar. And if you know any swing dancing moves, this is the place to show them off.

This is a speakeasy disguised as a laundromat that serves coffee and cuban bites. Once inside you wait your turn to do "laundry", pick up the pay phone, enter the code given to you, and open the secret door to get to the hidden bar. There is also a large patio area outback with plenty of seating.

Very cool speakeasy vibe. Be prepared with the "sin" of the day (can be found on social media) to confess to the priest or nun and expect to wait a bit outside before entering. Drinks are pricey at around $15-18 for a specialty cocktail.

This place is nestled in the Historic Kenwood neighborhood and has good locally roasted coffee or Kava. I am not a fan of Kava, but I do love their iced coffees. This is a great place for dog lovers. Whether you are bringing a dog or going solo, this place is a good time. We have even gone without our dog and still had a great time watching all the dog drama.

The Trolley

Central Ave Trolley (CAT) is available to ride to the beach or Downtown. It makes less stops than the bus so you will get to you destination pretty quickly. Trolleys stop every 20 minutes. There is a schedule online. The closest stop is a 5 minute walk from the apartment. There has been no cost to ride since COVID.

SunRunner Bus

This is a very clean bus line to quickly get you downtown or the beach without the hassle of traffic or parking. I highly recommend taking it to the beach during spring break or holidays to avoid expensive parking lots or circling for 45 minutes looking for a parking spot. 🙃
