Cephalonia Botanica aims at the preservation and display of the wild and endemic plants of Cephalonia and the promotion of environmental issues.Cephalonia Botanica is situated two klm from the centre of Argostoli and today covers 10,000 of the 28,000 sq.m terrain. The need to create an educational botanic garden emerged from the fact that, though Greece has the richest and most varied flora in Europe, very few botanic gardens-research centres are located in the country. Open daily from may to October. http://www.focas-cosmetatos.gr/garden_en.html

Lovely beach in 10mins distance, named after the chapel in the location. It is said that Robert Guiscard, after whom Fiscardo was named, died in this beach in 1085, while en route to Holy Jerusalem. You can also find a lovely restaurant, Odysseas and taste its Cephalonian dishes.

Small but special beach in 10 mins drive. Locals collect sea salt from its white rocks (alati means salt) and during the night (especially when there is no moon) the salt glows, creating an eerie effect. There is a lovely restaurant too.

It's rather unnecessary to describe this world-wide famous beach. Colours change not by day but by the hour and the height is breathtaking! You can even literally fly over it with paragliding. If you have in mind for Greece an image like the ones shown in the movies of the 60's with taverns by the sea under the shade of trees, checkered tablecloths and carafes with wine and ouzo, then the right place is the tavern Odysseas on the beach of St. Jerusalem, about 10 minutes away. Odysseus (who traveled a lot like his ancient namesake) and his family will guide you on a gastronomic journey through space and time! Phone +30 6932885944

The Fisherman's Shack is a very small tavern with a nice terrace in the beach of Agia Kyriaki (central west Cephalonia, apr. 50mins drive). It was used since 1920 as a fisherman’s house and is open as a tavern for several decades. There is no standard menu because the menu includes only fresh fish that were caught the same day, french fries and salad! If you call in the morning and give your order, this would be the best lunch after a morning swim in the magnificent nearby beaches!
