Parks and gardens

9A Elizabeth Bay Rd, Elizabeth Bay Built above Kings Cross car park, this reserve has plenty of green space to enjoy a walk or picnic. You can hang out with local dog owners or chat to the volunteers in the community garden. Located across Ward Avenue, the park is named after Australian aviation pioneer Lawrence Hargrave who lived nearby at 40 Roslyn Gardens from 1885 to 1893. It has recently been upgraded with feature lighting and shade structures featuring his famous box kites. https://www.cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au/parks/lawrence-hargrave-reserve

“Darlinghurst beach”. Lovely park with a magnificent harbourside setting and at low tide you can even get your feet onto the sand. Nearby two of Sydney's finest historic houses - Elizabeth Bay House and Boomerang. Eat at Bird and Bear boathouse or buy a picnic lunch from there. Watch out for bears (just kidding). There is also a playground for kids. https://www.cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au/parks/beare-park

148 Darlinghurst Rd Darlinghurst One of the best small museums in Sydney. The permanent exhibitions trace the history of Judaism, the persecution of Jewish people, their migration to Australia and service in the military. It has recently expanded to cover human rights issues affecting Australia. Using artifacts, interactive technologies, and testimonies, history is given a voice within the Museum’s walls. https://sydneyjewishmuseum.com.au/

274-279 Victoria St, Darlinghurst This is one of Sydney’s first sourdough bakeries focused on traditional bread-making methods. It started in the 90s in the back streets of Darlinghurst, serving up stoneground sourdoughs and pastries to the eclectic crowd that lived there. It serves great coffee, pies, pastries, cakes, sandwiches , as well as, a wide range of breads.
