Food scene
Pietrasanta has been famous with its marble quarries and workshops since the Middle Ages. Michelangelo lived here while overseeing work on his statues. This sort of business has eventually attracted other artists, galleries and - restaurants to cater to the refined taste of their clients.
They have the best sushi in the area. These days it's always full - but 10 years ago it was in the middle of a town where no one used to eat sushi . This place is run by a local person who used to work in the States running hotels. He knows his business like no one else.

Beach clubs
We used to go hear to the beach. This one's the easiest to reach on foot as it's right next to the road that connect Pietrasanta to the sea (and Marina di Pietrasanta). It has been quite expensive lately (EUR 80 per day), but don't expect savings on the beach in Italy.

Home to Modigliani. There's also a fancy modern walking area next to the sea called Terrazza Mascagni, which is quite a huge area covered in black and white marble. It looks like a huge chess board.

It may not not be obvious, but this place is not less important than Florence. It is here that leather and silk goods were manufactured. The satellite town of Florence features the Museo del Tessuto (Textile Museum) whose exhibited include original pieces of textile that is similar (and contemporary) to what you'd see on the models in some of the most famous Italian works of art, including the Birth of Venus.
