A small, well-loved, eclectic house tucked in the back off the street. Full of books and art! Not a modern home by any means, but a sloping bungalow with funky, old charm. Close to downtown and Casco Bay. Entire house -two bedrooms (one queen bed, one double), kitchen, living room, and 1.5 bathrooms is for you. Off-street parking for one car.
There is a cat on premises, but she is chill with dogs. Your well-behaved pup is welcome! There’s even a small outdoor fenced yard. One week min. stay.

Ang tuluyan
Note: this is a lived in, and well-loved, old home. It is not a hotel, nor is it modern. House has low ceilings and a funky construction. VERY STEEP STAIRS. Technically the house is called a floor-and-a-half because the upstairs has such low ceilings. Folks in the neighborhood call it the "elf house." I have great fondness for this house. It is charming and cozy and comfortable, full of color and light.

Downstairs is the living room, kitchen and small bathroom with shower. Upstairs is the master bedroom with large bathroom with tub, an office or possible guest bedroom.
House is full of eclectic things: toys, books, art, etc...that we have collected over the years.

Outside is a small, fenced garden area. Pet is welcome!
Willa Catter (cat) is a cat on premises--she comes and goes out her own cat door. Guests are asked to feed her or, if preferred, I will arrange a neighbor to do so.

Off street parking for ONE car.

Please note, there is NO air conditioning. It's never been needed, but global warming is hitting Maine. There are fans in each room in summer. Thermostat in winter keeps it plenty cozy - just ask that you be considerate to not waste heat.

Saan ka pupunta

Portland, Maine, Estados Unidos

This is considered the West End Neighborhood, but more "working class" as opposed to the millionaire brick mansions of the "upper" West End. Winter Street is a one-way street dividing the west end into the downtown area. It is mostly residential with larger apartment buildings and a few single family homes. There is a hospital nearby (but far enough that you don't hear it).

It is close to the bay and the bridge to South Portland, providing easy access to lovely beaches and hikes across the bay. You will hear seagulls cawing in the morning.

A great place for coffee and breakfast sandwiches is the OH NO Cafe, a short skip away. (right at end of driveway, then immediate first right on Gray Street. Cafe is a couple buildings down on the corner of Bracket and Gray.)
There is also the Rosemont Bakery (bakery and specialty foods--great vegies and cheeses) and Bonobo Pizza heading west up Bracket Street.

The Downtown Arts District is east a few blocks, and the historic, touristy Old Port is just beyond that.

I grew up in mid-coast Maine, left for college and grad school, traveled around a bit, and now my husband and I teach at a university in southern NJ and spend our breaks in our sweet home in Maine. We are both artsy, bookish, slightly askew academics. I have published a number of picture books and young adult novels and have an interest in eclectic things: toys, books, art, etc... We have two dogs who were strays from Puerto Rico.
