My modern 2 bed duplex apartment is nestled in the very heart of York city centre, providing the perfect break for couples or friends and family planning to meet up. It's situated on Goodramgate, one of York's oldest streets, running 200 metres from the magnificent York Minster.

A Grade II listed building, Hunter House was once home to Hunter & Smallpage department store which was famous for its grand interiors. Benefits include two bathrooms, WiFi and a free allocated parking space.

Ang tuluyan
We support responsible travel within the current restrictions and therefore my property is available for booking where the purpose of your stay falls within the current guidelines set out by the local Government.

Managed by a professional co-host of Airbnb, the property is professionally cleaned and the linen/ towels are replaced with freshly laundered supplies between each stay. We offer remote access with easy self check-in and 24/7 guest support should you need any assistance during your stay.

Hunter House is an old building with high ceilings and big windows. My apartment is located on the 1st floor, and can be reached by stairs or the communal lift. Spectacular views of York's rooftops and architecture can be seen from the living room. It has been newly redecorated throughout and furnished to a high standard. Once inside, the living area is split into two levels.

Lower Level (Entrance):

Double bedroom with two bedside tables, reading lamps and a chest of drawers for guest storage.
The bathroom includes a heated towel rail, shower over the bath, a hand basin vanity unit and toilet.
There is also a large walk in cupboard where you can hang coats and store shoes or luggage.

Higher Level:

Open plan living/dining/kitchen which is perfect for socialising. In here you have use of a large sofa and two armchairs. The TV includes a Roku stick so you can catch up on TV, Netflix and Amazon Prime. The WiFi speeds are around 15 Mbps.
The dining table can be extended, or can fit four people around comfortably as it is.
In the kitchen, mod cons include a built in fridge freezer, washer dryer, electric hob and double oven, dishwasher, and matching microwave, kettle and toaster set. I enjoy cooking, so for those keen cooks, there's plenty of cooking equipment and accessories.

The master double bedroom is on the top floor too. Here, guests can enjoy use of an en-suite shower room and relax in the snug area. There are two bedside tables with reading lamps and a chest of drawers for guest storage.
Making use of the unusual shape of the room, I have added in an extra armchair for relaxing. The en-suite shower room is larger than average; it comprises of a double shower, heated towel rail, hand basin vanity unit and toilet.

I have equipped my apartment with comfort in mind. Each room has a thermostat, where you can control the temperature individually. There are room darkening blinds in both bedrooms and the living/kitchen area. Additional amenities include use of a Nespresso coffee machine (please bring your own pods, as I appreciate coffee drinkers have their own preferences!) and two hairdryers; one in each bedroom.

Due to the age of the building, it does tend to gets cold in the winter and warm in the summer. You will find two fans and two extra electric heaters in the upstairs cupboard which you can use to warm/cool the rooms a bit faster.

Parking is free and in the building's car park which is to the rear. Entry is via a secure electric gate and the space is allocated. Further details can be found in your guest manual which my property management team will email over prior to your arrival.

Please note, there is a non smoking policy in my apartment and throughout the building. This includes not smoking out of the windows.
We share the building with residential occupiers and families, therefore before you book, know that noise levels need to be kept down past 10pm. I'm afraid hen and stag parties will not be accepted.

Saan ka pupunta

York, England, United Kingdom

Hunter House is in the city centre which makes visiting shop, restaurants/cafes and tourist attractions accessible on foot.

Here are some recommendations of mine to check out on your trip to York!

The best pubs in the area are:
Brew York Tap Room – Fresh beer brewed on site.
The Habit (our local) – Great if you like live music. Their terrace also has the best Minster view in York.
House of Trembling Madness – A favourite among Yorkies.
Pivni – Good Beer in a historic building.
Also, make sure you check out a Sam Smiths pub to experience real old fashioned Yorkshire drinking. Be prepared, it is cash only and strictly no mobile phones or swearing allowed. The closest to the apartment is The Burns Hotel, but they are dotted around the city.

Los Moros – Delicious North African food.
The Whippet Inn – The best steakhouse around.
Bugsy’s – Proper burgers.
Il Paradiso del Cibo – Our favourite Italian, run by a family from Sardinia.
Spark York – A shipping container site, with plenty of independent food, drink and shops. The food here is some of the best in the city.

Our favourites takeaways who deliver to the apartment are:
Yuzu Street Food – Asian fusion food. The most popular among all our friends.
Donner Summer – Vegan kebabs which are too good to be vegan.
Middle Feast – Non vegan kebabs which are great after some drinks. Bamboo Thai – Authentic Thai food.

Axe Throwing at The Hilt.
The York Cat Walk.
York Picturehouse – A small cinema in the centre of town with regular special events.
Art of Protest – A small contemporary art gallery on Walmgate, which you won’t find on any tourist guides. Chat to Craig and Martin inside who will tell you all about art in York.
There’s always a festival in York over the summer. Go to Visit York Tourist Information Centre to see what’s on during your visit. Some of our favourites are: York River Art Market, The Fossgate Festivals, York Open Studios, York Food and Drink Festival.

The Crescent – An old Working Men’s Club which has been transformed into the best live music venue in York. Check out the listings online, and you can buy tickets at Earworm Records downstairs on Goodramgate.
The Basement – Regular comedy nights with some big name comedians. You can find listings online NCEM (National Centre for Early Music) – A truly stunning venue within an old church. The events here are really diverse and feature a lot of more traditional musicians.

You'll see plenty of small supermarkets dotted around York. There is a Tesco Metro on Goodramgate, about 20 metres from my front door. Marks & Spencer food store is a few minutes walk away and is situated on the corner of Pavement and Parliament St. The Shambles Market is just round the corner and is great for local fresh produce and street food.

I am a York native, born in the city hospital and raised in a little North Yorkshire village. I moved into my apartment after studying Maths at Newcastle University and have loved living in the city centre for the last 5 years. I have a passion for music, and I am a regular at gigs and festivals. I’m also a keen tennis player, skier and lifelong Middlesbrough football fan. With a heavy heart I have decided to leave my career as an Actuary and my home city to pursue a lifelong dream of travelling the world. I hope you enjoy York as much as I have, it’s a beautiful city filled with history, culture and colourful characters.
