The Gas Lamp Inn and Eatery is housed in an imposing Second Empire brick house featuring selected Italian elements and topped by a straight mansard roof and copula. A full porch spans the front of this Mansard Italianate residence. The house was originally built in 1866 for the owner of the nearby “Quincy House”, a small hotel. If overbooked, the homeowner would often welcome guests in his residence. This spirit is revived as The Gaslamp Inn and Eatery welcomes guests to this gorgeous property.

Johnny Moore is a Quincy native who left his birthplace as a teenager to see the big wide world. With studies in Business Administration at Washington University in St. Louis followed by MBA work at the EHSC in Paris, France, his adventures have taken him to Switzerland, from where he’s recently returned. After more than 30 years in business, Johnny decided it was time to pursue his passion of entertaining and pursue a life-long dream of running a small, one-of-a-kind culinary establishment and inn. As the downtown area of Quincy flourished into a cultural center in his hometown, the property provided the perfect backdrop and from the very first visit, it was love at first sight and a done deal. Johnny has been truly blessed to experience life abroad and to travel. Now returning to Quincy to open and manage The Gas Lamp Inn and Eatery, he is utterly thrilled to let guests experience his favorite things from his European adventures. Johnny speaks several languages fluently: English, German and Swiss-German but his absolute favorite is definitely French, having raised his two sons in this Language. The joy of seeing parts of our world some guests might not know is a gift to appreciate and one Johnny is devoted to share. That is why the ambition of The Gas Lamp Inn and Eatery is to offer its guests the finest of his travels and takeaways.
