Green Door Lofts, also known as "Funky Town" as coined by Chip on Fixer Upper "Urban Loft Challenge," is a 9-unit luxury loft complex in the heart of Waco's bustling Silo District. We are next door to the historic Hippodrome Dinner Theater and steps away from eclectic shops, antique stores, wine tasting rooms, and live music. Magnolia Market is an easy walk away, or take the free trolley that stops outside. Each loft is crafted with a unique flair and offers a distinct experience.

The Silo Chic Loft is our newest loft at the Green Door Lofts! This loft combines glitter and glam with a unique urban farmhouse feel. Elegant chandeliers adorn the living and dining areas, contrasting the unfinished, exposed brick walls still leftover from the 1920s. A large, private balcony overlooks downtown Waco's most popular avenue, a tree-lined street filled with people enjoying the sights and sounds of the city.

The master bedroom boasts a king-sized bed with high quality, pressed, triple-sheeted linens. This loft is truly amazing and the balcony overlooking Austin Avenue is very private, a great place to enjoy coffee and watch the city wake up. Unlike our other 1-bedroom lofts, there is no Murphy bed in the living area. There is a sofa that converts into a day bed but at best can hold one small person or child. If more space is needed, consider our bigger 1-bedroom lofts (Tuna, Retro, or Urban Cowboy), the Magnolia Loft (2/2, sleeps 6), Bo Ho Loft (2/2, sleeps 6), or the Stained Glass Loft (4/3, sleeps 8).

The loft has an in-unit washer/dryer. Guests will also love the fully-equipped kitchen, complete with coffee and tea. Entertainment includes a large screen SmartTV with Direct TV and free wifi.

The building's courtyard has a seasonally HEATED POOL with lounge chairs and tables. The mezzanine deck overlooks the avenue below - perfect for people watching!

This loft overlooks an avenue in the heart of the city's shopping and entertainment district so noise may be heard inside the living room. The bedroom is interior and very quiet with the door closed. However, I do find that if 3 adults are sharing the room you might find the Retro or Urban Cowboy better suited due to noise considerations in the living area, especially Thursday- Saturday. Even so this is not terrible and people have not mentioned this. I am just being particular!

Finally, the Silo Chic Loft is on the second floor and accessed only by stairs. If this is an issue, please consider our 4 bedroom listing on the first floor.

Green Door Lofts gets its name from the famous green door that welcomes residents into the courtyard. This 9 unit complex is located on a trendy street that links the historic old homes of Waco with the parks along the Brazos River. Next door is the iconic Waco Hippodrome, where you can grab dinner and an adult beverage while watching a play, concert, or show. Waco’s free trolley stops in front of the loft before continuing to the Silos and other downtown shops.

A few blocks away is Cameron Park, a 416-acre stretch of land with hike and bike trails and the Waco Zoo. We are also located within five minutes of Baylor's McLane Stadium. On game days, Baylor’s free shuttle that runs between downtown and the stadium is only a couple blocks away.

Hello, my name is Jim Olmsted. I am the owner of the Green Door Lofts. In my real life, I am a 56 year old physician specializing in radiology. In my alter ego life, I am an outgoing host who enjoys meeting people and sharing my vibrant community with visitors from all over the world. I have lived in Waco for 25 years, having relocated downtown to the lofts four years ago.

Useless trivia about me is that I own at least eight bicycles; I've lost count. I enjoy racing all of them, mountain, road, gravel, and even Ironman triathlon. Downtown living is perfect for me as many of our rides in Waco depart from downtown riverfront area, and the world renowned Cameron Park trail system is less than a mile away.

A proud father of two sons, both young physicians, I enjoy traveling the world with my boys and my friends.

Owning and managing the Green Door Lofts is my newest exciting adventure. I look forward to meeting new people and sharing my incredible community with them.
