Elevated in the tree line and overhanging a small waterfall, this home is set in the forest, 2,000 m (6,800 ft) above sea level. A natural refuge of open green space and birds galore, it is a magical place to live disconnect from the hustle of daily life and enjoy nature in all its splendour without really being isolated at all!

If you’re the sort of person that loves to be off the grid but can’t be for work - you will love this home & setup.

This cabin-style dome house is one of several unique homes in our private mountainside community where business founders gather to decompress, go on adventures, work on themselves and their projects.

The interior of Catarata is designed with a large open-plan interior space with an integrated open-plan bedroom & lounge area so that you feel comfortable hanging out, relaxing, or working.

The sleeping area has a queen size bed, comfortable bedding & extra blankets for chilly nights.

The lounge area includes sofa, large coffee table, occasional chairs, & a dining table chairs set all arranged so that you can be inside whilst taking in the incredible views. From the sofa, you can see the volcanoes Acatenango and the eruptions of El Fuego.

There is also a dedicated work space with countertop and stool, or if you prefer to work standing, you can do so too.

The small kitchen built into the exposed rock face (which keeps the house naturally cool) is fully equipped with pots, pans, utensils, cutlery, crockery, wine glasses, & water glasses. It has a gas oven with 4-ring stove-top, a coffee maker, kettle and microwave. The fridge has a small freezer compartment. Cooking oil, salt & pepper are provided.

The bathroom has a hot water shower with good pressure, shower gel, shampoo, towels.

There is great wifi throughout.

Outside, the property has a large deep balcony with table, chairs & a small bbq (charcoal available in our shop along with meals, marshmallows and hot chocolate!) where you can enjoy the fresh air, amazing sunsets, and the wonderful views of the volcanoes. The breathtaking views of the volcanoes speak for themselves and you can see the erupting lava of Volcán Del Fuego almost year-round!

Both the environment in which this house is located and its interior decor will make you feel cozy and at home during your stay. Everything that you need for a special and memorable stay is right here in this turnkey, fully equipped property.

We recommend that you arrive before dark so that you can see the amazing sunset. If you do plan to arrive after dark please bring a torch so that you can clearly see the paths!

- Please book hikes & in-room spa treatments as far in advance as possible.

- We also offer guests a small on-site self-service shop with snacks, drinks, alcoholic beverages, office stationary, toiletries, basic medicines, basic food stuffs, and a selection of freshly pre-prepared lunch & dinner meals (just heat through at your leisure) all of which guests can order online. We will stock your accommodation / fridge / freezer for you before your arrival if you prefer & have ordered online 24 hours before your arrival.

- Breakfast is also available by arrangement at extra cost, again please let us know if you would like breakfasts as we need to arrange the service for you.

The house is located in the mountains of Antigua in the neighbourhood of El Hato, a the key destination for those wanting the best stays and activities outside of the congested historical centre of Antigua, but with easy access to it.

Here, you have a spectacular view of the volcanoes and the city of Antigua Guatemala and are a few minutes walk from the best yoga studio in Antigua at Earth Lodge, and you are another few minutes drive up the hill to Hobbitenango, and of course, up here you can see a real local Guatemalan village set-up.

The best way to move is to drive or Uber up the hill and then explore on foot. Parking & Ubers go all the way to the pila at the top of the footpath you walk down from to reach your accommodation (5 mins on foot).

The mountain around Casa Catarata has a variety of hiking trails and spectacular views.

There isn’t a supermarket in this neighbourhood but outside of our self-service shop where you can find the essentials and pre-prepared meals, there are independent vendors selling fruit, veg, dried foods & snacks within a 5 minute walk.

There are 2 restaurants each less than a 5-10 minute walk.
