Saan ka pupunta

Padua, Veneto, Italy

If you stay in Padua you can’t miss the most important historical attractions in the city:
Step I: Scrovegni Chapel, 3 minutes walk from Casa Giotto.
The Scrovegni Chapel is considered to be the most complete series of frescoes executed by Giotto. The Chapel is open from 9.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m. all year round and the booking is compulsory.
The visit must be booked in advance and you’ll have to withdraw your tickets one hour before the established time at the ticket office. The ticket office is situated at the entrance of the Eremitani Museum, its address is 8, Eremitani Square.

While you wait for your turn you can have breakfast, for an average cost of € 12,00, at the “Caffè Pedrocchi” in via VIII Febbraio 15, this is one of the symbols of Padua.
The visit to the Chapel lasts 30 minutes, the first 15 must be spent inside the CTA (Equipped Technological Body) which allows to preserve the frescoes from external pollution. Here a video will be shown that will prepare you for the actual visit, which lasts another 15 minutes.
Tickets from Tuesday to Sunday also include a visit to the Civic Museums of the Eremitani and Palazzo Zuckermann (Here you can find the Bottacin Museum and the Museum of Applied Arts, two hidden treasures of the city museum complex).
For more information and booking please check the website.
Other information:
"Giotto under the Stars": during some periods of the year it is also possible to visit the Scrovegni Chapel 19.00 - 22.00 every 20 minutes. Last entry at 21.20. Evening visits don't take place all year round, please check their availability on the calendar of the booking section of the website.

Step II. Chiesa degli Eremitani. Step II. Church of the Eremitani. The church was erected between 1260 and 1306 for the Hermits friars and it contains some of the frescoes of the Renaissance master Andrea Mantegna.

Step III. Civic Museums at Eremitani.
The Museum Complex, the oldest in the Veneto region, is housed in the cloisters of the former convent of the Eremitani friars. It includes the Archaeological Museum and the Museum of Medieval and Modern Art, as well as the Scrovegni Chapel. The visit from Tuesday to Sunday is included in the ticket for the Scrovegni Chapel.
Step IV. Basilica of Saint Anthony is the "home of the Saint": this is how the Paduans like to call Saint Anthony, Patron and Protector of the city of Padua. The Basilica is a triumph of different architectural styles - from the Romanesque to the Gothic - that coexist well with each other. The interior, in addition to the relics of Saint Anthony (carefully preserved in special display cases, visible to the public), boasts the presence of seven chapels and an ambulatory, made in the Gothic style. The fabulous frescoes inside and the equestrian monument to Donatello's Gattamelata outside complete the work.
Step V. Piazza delle Erbe and Mercato Also called, in the past, Piazza delle Biade, Piazza del Vino and Piazza della Giustizia, Piazza delle Erbe is one of the many squares of the delightful historic center of Padua, together with the nearby Piazza della Frutta the commercial heart of the city. Even today in the two squares there is a large market, to be seen absolutely if you are in Padua between Monday and Saturday. Other squares not to be missed: Prato della Valle , Piazza dei Signori and the Clock Tower.
If you have time also for an excursion in the surroundings: LISPIDA CASTLE:
A JOURNEY BACK IN TIME. At the heart of the Colli Euganei Natural Park, the Lispida estate has its own thermal lake with hot springs, as well as woods, vineyards and olive groves, covering an area of 90 hectares. The imposing castle, which dates back to the Middle Ages and was rebuilt in the 19th century, comprises the winery, the apartments of understated elegance, housed in historic buildings and the spacious granaries, used for parties and events.
