The mother-in-law suite is attached to our house, but you have a separate entrance and driveway and share no walls with our house. It's a completely separate living space. We give you complete privacy. It's comfortable for 2 people with a living room with FireTV, kitchenette (fridge, stove, oven, dishwasher, dishes, plenty of necessities, etc.), bedroom with queen bed and SmartTV, and full bath. There is a large deck and a gas grill out back as well. There are also a few beach supplies for you (cooler, beach chairs, umbrella, boogie board, beach towels).

Cooking note:
Please refrain from frying foods (bacon, sausage, seafood, etc.) on the stove inside. There is no fan above the stove to ventilate the area and remove the smell of grease. While we're happy for you to use the kitchen, we just ask that you avoid frying!

We're very convenient to Folly Beach, downtown, and West Ashley. We are one house off of the main road on James Island, Folly Road. We're just a short drive (about 20-30 minutes) to Mt. Pleasant, Sullivan's Island, and Isle of Palms. Make sure to take a look at the guidebook tab on this listing. We've added many of our favorite places to go in and around Charleston and Mt. Pleasant. Upon arrival, you'll find several guidebooks in the suite, as well.

You have everything you need for cooking in the kitchenette, but please refrain from frying. There is a Super Walmart within 2 blocks of the suite, as well as grocery stores (Harris Teeter, Publix) within 2 minutes drive. If you don't wish to cook but want something within walking distance, a nearby option is Black Magic just a couple houses down for breakfast, lunch, and coffee. Some other options are Ladles, Zeppelin Pizza, and Garage 75 right across Folly Road.

My husband and I have lived in Charleston since 2007, and we love it here. I teach special education and my husband is a musician. Our hope is that guests enjoy Charleston as much as we do, so we want the suite to provide every possible comfort of home. There are plenty of places for delicious food and beautiful scenery. My husband and I live next door. We both work full-time and it's not uncommon for guests to come and go without seeing us. However, we are available (preferably by Airbnb messaging) if needs arise. We'll let you enjoy your stay without hovering over you.

We have a large backyard where our friendly dog runs and plays. Guests are always welcome to go in the backyard, may enjoy the company of our dog Evie in the backyard, but may not take the dog inside the suite or out of the yard. We keep the suite completely free of pet dander for any guests who may have allergies. Do not leave children unattended in the backyard. Keep gates to yard closed at all times.
