Fireweed Tiny Home is a quaint & cozy tiny home nestled on our family owned working hay field. From the tiny home you will experience breathtaking panoramic views of Kachemak Bay, Grewingk Glacier, Poots Peak, Gull Island, the Homer Spit and more can easily be seen from the bay view windows. Enjoy a calming retreat from the hustle and bustle of town, and still be less than 10 minutes away from the Spit and downtown Homer.

Fireweed Tiny Home features a quaint kitchen, small fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster oven, 2 burner hot plate, coffee pot and enough pots/pans/ plates/bowls and utensils for 4 guests. The restroom is supplied with towels, washcloths, shampoo, conditioner and body wash. There is a hairdryer, and clothes steamer for guests to use as well.

We also provide coffee, tea, sugar, creamer and granola bars which are complimentary items for our guests to use during their first morning at the cottage. There are three conveniently located grocery stores, one of which is 3 minutes away to stock up on essentials during your stay.

The Tiny Home can sleep up to 4 people, 2 comfortably on the twin beds in the loft and the bonus sleeping benches below which has two comfortable narrow twin mattresses. The benches downstairs are narrower than a typical twin size mattress, so we recommend that you plan accordingly when appointing sleeping areas for your group. Also, please bear in mind that the loft will require some physical maneuvering to get to. If you or anyone in your party has physical limitations such as weakened knees, back issues, etc. we highly recommend staying down in the lower quarters to prevent any possible injuries. Children are not allowed to be upstairs unaccompanied without adult supervision at all times

Note: We will provide the extra bedding for you to make the bench cushions upon request.

Installed blackout curtains in the loft area are a must during the summer months when the sun may not set until nearly midnight. A small heater is located in the main living space in case you need to take the chill off during your visit. Wi-Fi is also included in your reservation.

Through the summer months it's not uncommon to see a mamma moose and her young stroll through the property, an eagle soar overhead in search of a meal or have a flock of Sandhill Crane land in the field and forage for food with their young. Occasionally, you might be greeted by two small dogs Coco and Chica, owned by Joyce and Alan who live in the brown cedar sided home on the property. They are completely harmless and will not bite.

The Turkington's are 4th Generation Alaskans/Homerites and we love the last frontier! We hope you'll choose to spend part of your Alaskan adventure with us!

Our families 28 acre homestead definitely sets it apart from many other locations in Homer. To be so close to town, and all that Homer has to offer and yet have so much private open space and unmatched views of Kachemak Bay. You simply cannot find a more unique setting in Homer!

Hi, My name is Scott Turkington and I am a 3rd generation Alaskan. My Grandfather first came to Alaska in 1946 in Model A's all the way from Hartford Connecticut. The military was still punching in a road through Canada so that they could get vital supplies to Alaska to defend her from the Japanese who had invaded the Aleutian Islands. With his military permit granted to him to travel the road, he struggled through muddy mucky roads all the way to Alaska. He eventually made his way down the Kenai Peninsula to Homer and fell in love. He soon returned to Connecticut, married my grandmother and moved her back to Homer. Back then there wasn't much here and you had to be a real pioneer to make a living. He eventually purchased 300 acres in homer just out east end road. That's where I grew up and spent most of my life.

Eventually I met my wife Hester while working for an alternative fuels company in Missouri. A few years after our daughter was born we moved back to Alaska so she could experience the magic and wonder that I experienced growing up here in Alaska. Grandpa Bob has since passed but our family purchased his land and turned their house into a vacation rental. Now Hester and I have expanded the family venture to include this cute little tiny house so more guests can enjoy the family property.
