    Highlights

    • We're making it easier for you to find the price your guests pay

    • We'll always show you the guest service fee, so you never have to search for your final price

    • We want to help you understand the final price that guests will be charged, so you can set a fair, competitive rate

For most stays, Airbnb charges a service fee to both hosts and guests. You set a price, and a guest fee is added on top. But we haven't made it easy enough for hosts to find the guest fee, which can make it difficult when you want to answer questions from guests about price or make changes to your reservations.

To simplify price management for hosts, we’re going to consistently show you what your guests will pay. Previously, we didn’t prominently feature the guest fee when you set your price. The updated price display will make it easier for you to discover the total price guests pay, which gives you more specific info to make pricing decisions and changes.

To help you understand these updates, we’ve rounded up some of your top questions below.

With cancellations, people have said to me before, ‘Why haven’t I received the full refund?’ And because I can’t tell how the fee has been worked out, I can’t really explain it to people.

    Are my prices changing?
No. We’re just giving you more information about what your guests pay. You'll still have full control of your nightly price and cleaning fees*, and you can change these whenever you want.

How are prices shown to my guests when they book?
Nothing changes in how prices are displayed to guests. Prices are shown to guests in search and throughout checkout as before.

You mentioned the guest service fee. What’s that for, anyway?
For stays, guests typically pay a service fee of around 14% of the booking subtotal. This fee, along with the host service fee—3% for most hosts—pays for the products and services that support our hosts and guests around the world.

Fees go toward things like customer service, marketing to guests, and protection for you and your place. You can read more about guest and host service fees and what they cover here.

How do host fees on Airbnb compare to fees on other home-sharing sites?
Most sites don't charge fees to guests, and instead take a larger fee from the hosts' earnings. They often will also charge fees to hosts for payment processing or to boost their search placement.

At Airbnb, we strive for straightforward fees with no hidden costs. To achieve this, we charge most hosts a flat fee of 3%, and we're making it easier for hosts to understand the fees we charge to guests.

How will these changes benefit me?
The goal of this increased transparency is to offer you more control as a host. By making it easier to find the total price your guests will pay, we're removing the guesswork about fees.

This means you'll never have to search for your final price when answering questions from guests or making changes. When you know exactly what your guests are paying, it becomes that much easier to manage things like refunds, cancellations, and reservation adjustments.

Where will I notice these changes?
You may notice these updates as soon as you price your space. Our Smart Pricing feature factors in the guest service fee automatically, and the base price display in your listing settings will remind you that the guest service fee gets added to your price.

Once a reservation has been confirmed, a price breakdown in your host reservation details and your booking confirmation email will include all applicable fees. These calculations will include all fees and taxes collected by Airbnb that your guests pay in their total price, as well as your payout.

As with most changes that we make to your hosting tools, we’ll be rolling these changes out to groups of hosts over a period of weeks—so if you don’t notice them right away, don’t worry: They will appear soon!

We understand that any change to how your listing or price appears can take some adjustment. But this update is an important step toward bringing more consistency and transparency to price displays across Airbnb—and giving you more control over your hosting business.
