Ang gagawin mo

This will be a beautiful and safe bike ride to see the massive and ancient "El Tule" tree, which is famous for being the widest tree in the world. We´ll also see part of the town of "Santa Maria del Tule", its church and its market.

We'll meet in downtown Oaxaca. Then, once we are geared up with helmets and our bikes, we´ll begin our journey to El Arbol del Tule (45 min. bicycle ride from downtown [10 km or 6 miles one way]).

We'll ride on a nice bike lane covered with tree shades for the most part. It's mostly flat. During our ride, you'll get to see the outskirts of the city, beautiful hills, and a few crop fields.

Once we arrive to Santa Maria del Tule, we'll go directly to see El Tule tree, the colorful church and the beautiful lush gardens.

Then, we'll go to the handicrafts market and the food market where we'll spend some time checking out the market shops, going to the restroom, and getting something to eat and drink.

Finally, we'll start our ride back to Oaxaca.

REQUIREMENTS:
- To know how to ride a bike ( easy / flat ride, 20 KM total).

I'm passionate for the outdoors. I love biking and enjoy meeting new people while promoting sustainable ecotourism in Oaxaca. I love taking visitors on this route because it is a unique way to experience and see the beautiful town of "Santa Maria del Tule" which is known for its massive and ancient tree "El Tule" and also to have an active day. My goal is to provide you with an unforgettable experience. I would love to share this experience with you.

I was born and raised in Oaxaca. I have lived abroad (in the USA) during my college years and I have also traveled to several countries. On my travels, I have experienced the need of local experts who can show you those "hidden gems", the sites that are off the beaten path in unique ways.

Saan ka pupunta

The road we'll take is mainly used by locals so you'll get to see more about authentic Oaxaca and the outskirts of the city.

El Tule tree is located inside a gated churchyard in the picturesque town of Santa Maria del Tule. It is the widest tree in the world. It's 40 meters in height, 58 meters in circumference, and about 2,000 years old.

The Baroque-style church is called Templo de Santa María de la Asunción and dates from the 18th century.

Nice bike ride. The tree is closed to the public but you can get near it. The food was very good. The market was a little overpriced.

Four of us went on this experience and loved it. Ivan is a wonderful host and we appreciated everything he did for us from setting up each bike to our height specifications, to safety precautions in traffic, to being a great guide at our destination. Our group ranged in age from 50's - 70's (in pretty good shape physically) and we found it to be a comfortable and easy ride. As Ivan clearly stated in his explanation about the experience before booking, the tree is behind a fence that is currently covered due to Covid precautions. However as promised Ivan was able to get us close enough to see this incredible tree and take some nice photos, and he gave us a lot of information on it's history. We also really enjoyed walking through the small & pretty town of El Tule and getting a snack in the market with Ivan. We all highly recommend this experience with Ivan.

I’m clumsy riding a bike and the route was as advertised: easy, flat and mostly shaded on the well kept bike lane. I was in a group of 5 and Ivan was constantly turning back checking on everyone in the group. He has great energy and gave good physical signals throughout the journey. The destination town is quaint, vibrant and not crowded. We have been eating a lot so the 12 miles ride was welcomed. My butt was a bit sore the day after as the bike seat is smallish and I am used to a super padded seat on my personal bike back at home. I recommend this nice and outdoor experience in Oaxaca.
